John Schultz - Manager/Training Director

As a certified operator John Schultz has managed and operated large and small water systems for almost 40 years in several different states. During that time, he played a lead role in the design, construction and successful start-up of numerous large and complex treatment facilities with a combined capacity in excess of 125 million gallons per day. As a water systems troubleshooter and automation specialist he is known for his ability “to make the complex simple."

Matt Allen - Source Water Protection Specialist

Matt comes to Atlantic States with a background in watershed science and land use planning. He holds a BA in geography from the University of Connecticut and an MA in geography from the University at Buffalo, where his research dealt with the spatial analysis of land use/land cover change and its impact on watershed processes. As a geographer, Matt understands water resources to be part of a coupled natural-human system, a continuously dynamic relationship between people and the environment. Through this lens, Matt believes what is best is an integrated water resources management approach that engages stakeholders and maximizes social equity, economic efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

Diane Johnson - Wastewater Technician

Diane began her career as a transportation engineer. Her resume includes over 15 years of experience in private practice that includes the design, management and construction oversight for many structural, local roadway, highway, bicycle, and traffic projects in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. More recently, she was the Town of Charlestown’s Onsite Wastewater Specialist and the Town of Narragansett’s Assistant Town Engineer in Rhode Island. These positions have provided her with the knowledge, experience and understanding of water and wastewater issues. Diane is a licensed and registered Connecticut and Rhode Island Professional Engineer. She graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Connecticut.

Conor Lally - Workforce Development Coordinator

With a background in watershed science, Conor has dedicated his career to advancing innovative water and wastewater management systems. He is a Co-Founder of Nutrient Networks Inc., a New England-based organization advancing the field of ecological sanitation. Conor is experienced in the planning, installation, and maintenance of alternative sanitation systems and composting toilets throughout New England and beyond, including LEED and LBC green building projects. He has also served roles in designing and project managing for ecological wastewater systems, constructed wetlands, and sustainable land use planning, as well as the design and operation of full-scale farm composting facility. He holds degrees in Watershed Science and Energy & Environmental Analysis from SUNY ESF and Boston University. With experience in providing education and training programs to a diverse audience, and collaborating across multiple disciplines, Conor serves as the Workforce Development Coordinator for ASRWWA.
