A Generic Approach to Understanding Pipe & Leak Locators (#1705 A-D)
This course will provide principles and practices of pipe and leak locators. The basic functions of locators and how they work will be discussed, as will common misuses of pipe locators. There will also be hints and troubleshooting techniques on locating a pipe. This class will also discuss weather and the effects nature has on locating; Ghost signals and how to identify them; and identifying gas, electric, or other utilities when they are close proximity. An overview of leak detection will follow, including: important unit features, leak “frequencies” and “sound”, effects of pipe materials, and using hydrants.
